Donelle earned her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1992. In addition to her regular practice, Donelle is trained in the relatively new field of collaborative law, a non-adversarial approach to resolving disputes. She also serves as a private guardian ad litem, appointed to represent a child's interests in cases. In 2006, she received the Outstanding Guardian Ad Litem Award from the Oklahoma Bar Association. Donelle served the Oklahoma Bar Association as Chair of its Family Law Section in 2007. In 2013, she again accepted the position as Chair. Donelle has extensive trial experience, with over 100 trials litigated through trial, in the areas of civil, oil and gas, and family law, several of which resulted in published opinions from appeals. Besides her trial work, Donelle has donated time and effort to help less fortunate people. She created the Oklahoma County Guardian ad Litem Project in 2007, to represent the children of low income families in custody disputes. She has been named an Oklahoma Super Lawyer since 2006. She was named one of the top 25 Oklahoma Women Lawyers in 2006, and was a Journal Record Leadership in Law honoree in 2008. She has served as a volunteer attorney since 2011 for the OBA "Lawyers for Military Heroes" project and served as a volunteer attorney in 1995 for victims of the Oklahoma City bombing. Her Firm has been recognized by the Oklahoma Magazine for Excellence in Family Law. Donelle is a speaker at both the state and national levels regarding litigation and trial issues, legal standards, and technology practices for lawyers.
Donelle divides her time between her two law offices, in Oklahoma City and Clinton, Oklahoma. To offset the stresses of litigation she keeps a balanced life of music, traveling, gardening, and raising ducks and geese.
