Family of science whiz faces crushing expenses after he develops schizophrenia

Posted on March 23, 2017 by Andrew Findley
14-year-old Joey Hudy dazzled President Obama in 2012 with a cannon he created that fired marshmallows (to the dismay of the Secret Service). Later, he invented 3D body scanners, solar-powered computers, and became the youngest-ever intern at Intel. But after graduating college moving to Hong Kong, Joey was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Treatment was expensive, and his sister created a GoFundMe account to help pay the bills. Katie Mettler of the Washington Post reports on Joey’s journey, and efforts to help him in this story.
